Dear MEs,
First off I would like to say welcome back to all of our returning
students and hello to all of our new ones. I hope you have all
had a good
summer. For those who do not know me, my name is Matthew
McKnight. I am
the student section president of ASME this year at CBU.
ASME or The American Society of Mechanical Engineers is a
professional
society dedicated to the promotion of "science & practice of
mechanical &
multidisciplinary engineering." Here at CBU our purpose as a
student
section is to get young engineers together to work with and
support each
other on things such as homework, student competitions, and
community
service.
Three things to keep in mind as we start the semester are: The
first
meeting back, our poster sale, and our Canoe/Camping trip.
Our first meeting for the year will be on Thursday Sept. 3 at
12:30 in
Nolan. Come hungry as we will be serving pizza for lunch. You do
not
have to be an ASME member to come to the meeting. We would love
to see
all MEs there.
Secondly, we will be working with Global prints in a poster sale
to raise
funds. Global prints will have a lot of great posters that you
can use to
decorate your dorms or apartments. The poster sale will take
place on
Sept. 21 and 22.
Finally, this semester we will be going on a Canoe/Camping trip.
This
will be a great way to hang out and get to know fellow classmates
as well
as the ASME officers. It is important that all freshmen attend
this trip
so that they can elect a class representative for ASME. Just
remember to
bring a sleeping bag from home so that you will be prepared to go
on the
trip.
If you have any questions feel free to ask me or any of the other
ASME
officers. We will be glad to help you in any way. I will see
you all in
a few days!
Matthew McKnight
